but the texture is very different from the one of this ref. 4226. The ref. 4226 usually comes with a sunburst dial with the word “swiss” surrounded by two sigma symbols below the 6 o’clock marker (swiss/sigma is also featured on 3567 hammered dials). So t... 

Even should there be texture (is this a 3548 or 3848?) The roughness of the texture seems inconsistent with the overall refinement of this ellipse. My 2 cents. Chk

5226 grainy one ! If genuine, there is lineage of 5226 from ellipse ! Hope that it is original and if so we look forward to you becoming the owner 👍

Did John say this was a special type of dial or was it a dial defect that gave it that wonderful texture ? Julian
