Lovely article on a beautiful watch! The dial is remarkable!
Do you know how this effect is produced? From the tropical dial, it looks like the dial (material?) is scratched (?) and then lacquered. Is that it? This is my supposition as the lacquer seems to detach itself from the dial material.

you simply don't feel it! Audemars Piguet's reference 25643 also has a backwind crown: check here .
