Patek Philippe's "The Values of A Family Watch Company" Grand Exhibition in Singapore

26 May 2010, Singapore -  A press event was held for the Patek Philippe's "The Values of A Family Watch Company" Grand Exhibition at St Regis Singapore and the exhibition will be open to the public from 27 to 31 May, from 10am to 5pm at the same venue.

Over 250 Patek Philippe timepieces spanning the latest 2010 novelties and Grand Complications, to rare timekeepers from the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva will be on display. This first ever exhibition by Patek Philippe in Singapore, its first stop in Southeast Asia – after stints in New York, Los Angeles and Milan.

This exhibition is an excellent opportunity for the public to witness the passion and know-how of the Patek Philippe Manufacture. With the museum timepieces, one goes on a journey through the history of watchmaking. From the 2010 novelties and the Grand Complications, one understands the values that the brand holds close to our hearts,” says Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe.

A highlight of the exhibition is Patek Philippe’s latest chronographs, fresh from their debut at the Baselworld fair in April 2010. The latest variants on display include the “Ladies First” collection (Ref. 7071), Men’s Chronograph (Ref. 5170J), Split-Seconds Monopusher Chronograph (Ref. 5950A) and Split-Seconds Monopusher Chronograph and Perpetual Calendar (Ref. 5951P).

Next to note is the exquisite Grand Complications The Star Calibre 2000. This timepiece which hallmarked the new millennium, features 21 of the rarest complications along with six patented innovation. Based on five centuries of watchmaking, it stands for the future of mechanical horology.

Other noteworthy examples include the Minute Repeater and Tourbillon (Ref. 5339R) that chimes the time on demand and features an elegant tourbillon escapement visible through the case-back; and the new Celestial watch (Ref. 6104G) featuring a true-to-life depiction of the northern hemisphere night sky on the dial, as well as solar time and moon phase indications.

Also at the exhibition are precious vintage timepieces, pocket watches, automata and decorative timekeeping curiosities chosen from over 2,000 historical timepieces from the renowned Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. They include ornate 18th and 19th century timekeepers created for the Chinese market; the famed “King of Siam” timepieces made for the Thai royalty during the late 19th century; and rare vintage pocket watches with grand complications.
