Two months ago, I dedicated a thread to the rose gold variant of this model, ref. 5100R-001 . But, after having discovered the photos below, showing the grainy texture of the white dial of the yellow gold variant, ref. 5100J-001 , I wonder if it's not eve...

I love that picture highlighting the grainy texture of the dial! Obviously it can be broken down further, but I tend to think of a watch as composed of three elements: case, movement, dial. I've always thought of this watch as having a gorgeous, elaborate... 

(as I’ve never seen a 5100 in real life yet), it made me think that every one of the three elements you mention are simply perfect. A major temptation for me, but I still have to see it in real life.

I saw one in the last year on a pre-owned dealer's wrist. Really eye catching. Cheers, John

The modern version looks like a perfect blend of modern and vintage. A warm, vintage design in a modern package.

...to me, yellow gold is the only 'real' gold. It is its natural state and classic all the way back to the Egyptians : )

prefer it to the R or G for that matter. In person, don’t love the dial colors of those versions. My favorites are P and J, the latter being one of the all time Patek bargains

Each is very different, each is having its own charm, but all are definitively extremely cool. As for me in spite of being usually more attracted by yellow or rose gold for vintage Patek watches, in this particular case I believe I am more attracted by th... 

I think the combination of white metal and blue dial would seem too 'common' to me for such a special watch. But that's without having any of the 4 in real life... I could of course feel very differently face to face with them.

in my hands-on thread , I have really liked it a lot, but keep asking myself if I would wear it as daily and casually as I do my other watches. There's also the fact that the winding experience wasn't as great as expected. Then, I would have to find the r...
