Well here are we discussing values to the chagrin of a Purist (sorry Moses). I have to disagree with Mostel, however, most respectfully. Compare the following scenarios:
1. You purchase an "overpriced" Patek at full list, and sell it in a year for 90& of what you paid (assuming you have not damaged it or lost the papers);
2. You purchase a "better value" Chopard (or Roger Dubuis, or Lange One) at list, and sell it the next day as new for perhaps 55% of what you paid, if you are lucky.
These are more than likely scenarios, not the reverse.
I agree that one issue with PP is they are expensive to get into and hence not everyone can buy one, but you can generally get out in much better shape. It is the entry price that helps them hold their value.
Personally I have owned Journe, Corum, UN, Lange, Chopard, JLC and others, and there just is no comparison to the quality and richness of Patek, and none of the others hold their value (or for me, appeal) over time like Patek.
