I really like the 5170G-001, it'll look less dressy with a more casual strap. I'll look for the first series in WG if I go for the 1815 Chrono. The VC Malte Chrono PT CEP is a great alternative too. I owned those three but sold them to focus on Perpetual Calendars.
For Montblanc you can try hunting for the wonderful Villeret 1858 vintage pulsographe in 39 mm. Breguet Classic chrono 5247 with enamel dial is another great candidate. Both these two are attractively priced.
Having said that, the 5960P is a beautiful watch too.

This is an interesting one. I have owned the 5960G, currently own the 5172G-01 and have tried on the 5170G and the Lange 1815 Boutique Chrono extensively. Here are my thoughts:
1. 5960 - loved the pushers, dial layout and colour scheme, but over time two things bothered me: thickness and the fact that it was doing too many things at the same time. Do one thing and do it really well. Manual chrono > auto. 2. 5170 - lovely breguet...

Breguet numerals sold me on the 5170

Hence I would weigh in on 5170 or 5172. Alternatives are 5131, 5110 or 5130 if you like Patek's iconic WT pieces.
