I do agree with the sentiment to do one thing and do it well. Not that the 5960 does anything poorly, and actually combines a bunch of things well, just thought that movement finishing on the others is def superior. In fact, the 5960 technically, is prob the superior with vertical clutch etc, although for display backs the horizontal wins.
2) I was looking at the silver dial version with pulsation scale. Would that change it?
3) agree. Haven't seen in person, only online but seems to lack the depth on the dial. Movement prob makes up for it, but not what I'm looking at 90% of the time.
4) Haven't tried it on, and while I'd prefer 1mm smaller, should be able to accommodate based on others in my collection. Was looking at salmon dial version as already have a blue dialed watch and trying not to overlap too much (well, beyond almost all being chrono).

advice needed - 5960 vs 5172G-010 or 5170G-001
This is an interesting one. I have owned the 5960G, currently own the 5172G-01 and have tried on the 5170G and the Lange 1815 Boutique Chrono extensively. Here are my thoughts:
