Patek Philippe

Thanks for starting this thread

I was lucky enough to see them in the metal at the Geneva Salon. There is clearly a theme here: 4 of the 5 look significantly better in the metal. The Calatravas are truly beautifully executed. The 6119G in particular is extremely elegant and the finish of both the mouvement and the dial are remarkable. The 5236 is jaw dropping. Photos cannot convey the beauty of the shade of blue. It is a truly spectacular watch, understated and striking at the same time. I am seriously considering acquiring one. I will keep you posted if I do. I think that Patek and Lange win this year's launches, with the 5236 and the Lange 1 QP (both proposing new ways to display calendar information in a very legible way), if you exclude the ridiculously impressive Jaeger Reverso Quadriptyque, which is in a different league.

I am much less enthusiastic about the 4749 though. The 3 sub-dials are very close together toward the center, which breaks the visual balance of the dial, and the date window looks squished below the moon phase display.  I'm guessing this is a limitation of the caliber used, but still, it's an issue visually. The patterned dial, however, is beautiful and so is the bracelet.
