The AD has an exclsusive license

 

to sell PP watches.  This is a privilege for them to carry a PP product which potentially brings in customers for their other products and general goodwill.  You can view the AD as either as being an ambassador for PP or a mercenary.  I do not believe the latter promotes PP's brand.  By having the license to sell PP's, the AD is guaranteed some level of supply and a sure profit margin that a non-AD can only dream of. 

If the AD can sell above MSRP on the rare watches and below MSRP on the less desirable pieces, why not let the market dictate all PP sales and get rid of all AD's altogether?  They serve no purpose other than to add to the middleman's cost.  PP should just hold a regular auction and cut out the middleman, pocketing the market price entirely for themselves.  I believe the AD is getting something in return for being an "AD" and PP should hold them to a higher standard.
