For those who, like me, are more attracted to dress watches than to sports watches, the Patek Philippe ref. 3800/1A-001 (or 3800/1A-XII ) & 3710/1A-001 might be the best iterations of the Nautilus . At least, personally, they're the ones I feel the most a...
And I know that to many Nautilus lovers, these are mostly 'ugly ducklings'. But it doesn't stop me from liking them! Have a great Sunday. Cheers, Emmanuel
you like it ! It is a “beautiful swan” to you 👍 The last photo of the one in yellow gold with 3 Roman numerals has a dial that is quite clean and attractive IMO 😃
I'm personally not fond of the 3800 with 3 numerals dial because I miss the leaf hands and... the other numerals. One I like a lot is the yellow gold 3800/1J (it's the blingy side of me 😇).
I never thought I would ever buy one But I did and I find the dial , Roman numerals and the comet feature quite charming I also had the ref 3800 but it was a bit small and I traded up into the 3710 I think this watch has to be seen in the flesh to appreci...
As you've understood, I like this unconventional model. The blue dial 3700 (or 5711, but I tend to prefer the monobloc case) are attractive, of course. But they don't make me dream (personal taste, of course). Cheers, Emmanuel
A sort of 'balance of opposites' if you will. Would I choose one of these references myself - no, but I can see why you or someone else would still find them to be a compelling proposition. Ultimately, I don't think that there is a sports watch out there ...
and I certainly understand why these models are very scarcely loved. The thing is, I'm not really in love with the Nautilus anyway, because I'm not really into sports watches. Reason why I felt attracted to the grey dial Alpine Eagle: steel integrated bra...
In this instance, the 'divide' between the modern and the classical isn't as 'glaring' if you will. Without meaning to invoke heresy, the case & bracelet design elements here are, to my eyes, a tasteful 'bridge' between the Nautilus and the Ingenieur! And...
I like your way of seeing the Alpine Eagle, but if I had to choose between it and the comet Nautilus or the Roman 3800 (money being no object), I'd have a hard time choosing... Have a great week! Best, Emmanuel
They are historically significant and I personally like them from an aesthetic standpoint. But they are definitely very different from the iconic blue ribbed dial variant of the Nautilus. Best regards, Emmanuel
the watch dealer had it in a safe and I didn't stay long enough for him to go and search it. I hope I will be able to see it another time. Best, Emmanuel
