You know e I never liked this model
I never thought I would ever buy one
But I did and I find the dial , Roman numerals and the comet feature quite charming
I also had the ref 3800 but it was a bit small and I traded up into the 3710
I think this watch has to be seen in the flesh to appreciate it charms

I'm personally not fond of the 3800 with 3 numerals dial because I miss the leaf hands and... the other numerals. One I like a lot is the yellow gold 3800/1J (it's the blingy side of me 😇).

As you've understood, I like this unconventional model. The blue dial 3700 (or 5711, but I tend to prefer the monobloc case) are attractive, of course. But they don't make me dream (personal taste, of course). Cheers, Emmanuel

There is, in my opinion, definitely something odd in combining roman numerals and the Nautilus case....
A sort of 'balance of opposites' if you will. Would I choose one of these references myself - no, but I can see why you or someone else would still find them to be a compelling proposition. Ultimately, I don't think that there is a sports watch out there ...

That is actually, in my opinion, a notably better execution of the concept than the Nautilus!!
In this instance, the 'divide' between the modern and the classical isn't as 'glaring' if you will. Without meaning to invoke heresy, the case & bracelet design elements here are, to my eyes, a tasteful 'bridge' between the Nautilus and the Ingenieur! And...

Power reserve is one of the most useful complications for a mechanical watch.
IMHO. This reference doesn’t disappoint. I also love the juxtaposition of Roman numerals (classic design) with a sports model.

Also, I thought that the IZR was directly above at 12 o'clock until you pointed it out. I realized for the first time that it is slightly biased toward 11 o'clock. Looking closely,

They are historically significant and I personally like them from an aesthetic standpoint. But they are definitely very different from the iconic blue ribbed dial variant of the Nautilus. Best regards, Emmanuel
Unfortunately, the 3710 wasn't available:
the watch dealer had it in a safe and I didn't stay long enough for him to go and search it. I hope I will be able to see it another time. Best, Emmanuel
