This is a surprise maybe this year. Or maybe it is a "forum" thing to always want more, even when times are not adequate to.
We are quite spoiled with Patek when you look at the wide range of calibers, which are all in-house now and very finely executed (look at the 240 and 324 bridges design, size and finishing compared to other base movements). In the high-end brands I don't see many (ALS but with a much lower volume to produce and maybe narrower collection too and maybe JLC with some specific models).
We tend to expect something but remember the new chronograph caliber (29-535) or the new integrated Annual Calendar (31-260). It is intellectually more work and requiring watchmaking skills than a reworked movement (even if as beautiful, reliable and accurate as the Lemania).
The question is more about, is it good, reliable, not too small, well finished or is it not? I think they are.
I think that people would like to see the base used in the 31-260 a little more.
As you know the current times may need to have some consolidating years in terms of movement, in order maybe to control costs, thus pricing as well. And the 240 is still an excellent movement, so... i don't know what to say
Just a guess. Thanks for your input Dirk.
Cheers, Mark
