Dwelling on some things today…
…and so a return to the wrist for my OG Rolex, purchased almost 30 years ago and still going strong.
This may sound ridiculous, but this is my back to basics, back to simpler times watch.
Yes, it was still a lot of money to spend on a watch at that time and my roommates, colleagues and friends at that time thought I was nuts.
But it wasn’t a money thing if that can make sense; as I’ve shared before it took me several months of no other discretionary spending to pay this off. I bought it on what we would call lay away. A couple of hundred Irish pounds every month, more some months if I could. Plus, I had zero responsibilities aside from rent and a car loan.
It was simpler times, and life was a lot more basic then. So this one will always take me back to those years and their simplicity.

That’s another reason it has meaning. I wore it 24/7 for several years until 2003 when the Panerai bug hit hard ! LOL

Haha, I told them at the time that the didn’t “understand”.
Of course my logic was more about spending discretionary income on something tangible and long lasting versus a Friday or Saturday night out !
