i'd say it depends whether you're getting them fresh. those chocolatiers are like patisseries that make macarons - if they're not fresh, they don't taste the same.
i actually prefer pierre herme's macarons to his chocolates. payard truffles are good. but if i had to have it boxed & shipped, i still like teuscher champagne truffles & maison du chocolat.
