DIGITAL BAD!!! 🤣
Actually, folks, digital can be great. Analog can be great. Both can also be not so great, with nasty noisy all-analog pressings or compressed-to-heck poorly-encoded digital file.
This just shows that the ‘purists’ don’t have a leg to stand on. It comes down to care and skill in the recording and mastering process.
What’s sad is marketing pressures and old men arguing over things they most likely can’t hear (and it is 99% men, of an age at which their hearing will have naturally degraded quite a bit). Plenty of money to be made with snake oil in the audio market…

In a way yes it is a disgrace yet at the same time you have to wonder, if so many people got fooled and couldn't tell the difference there is a bigger problem in that hobby.

In fact it is a known fact that some record companies use digital resources.
That did not surprise me. Streaming in high quality can give very satisfying results, that is the way I choose for my listening sessions.

But perhaps the real scandal is that self-described audiophiles were so fooled. I was part of the audiophile community for a while, many years ago. I spent vast sums on equipment. It was fun, but when $10K in upgrades can squeeze out only a 1% improvement...
