Vacheron Constantin

New versions of Overseas Perpetual Calendars. White gold with burgundy dial and rose gold with r oh de gold dial.

I just spent time two days ago at the Vacheron NYC boutique. I looked and tried on both of these watches; the white gold burgundy dial and the rose with rose dial. I would never have even looked at the rose one from the photos as it looks like way too much gold. That was until I was sitting at breakfast with Alexander Schmiedt, the North American CEO of Vacheron and peeking out of his wrist was this rose gold model on blue rubber strap. I about fell out of my chair! This is the perfect example of having to see a watch in person versus just seeing photographs of it. At the boutique I saw both as I said. The burgundy is eye catching to be sure but gives off a totally different vibe. It is far more sportier and casual. It’s the colored dial which is the attraction and although nice I feel it’s a bit “fad-ish” and will not be timeless and less versatile with clothes and the allure will fade in time. How often will you reach for a burgundy dial watch once the novelty wears off? In the other hand the rose gold is not loud at all . It does not scream gold and is actually more subtle than the white gold burgundy. It is less showy actually. It is my preference of the two. What do you think?
