I agree 95% with your post. The Tips 2 was indeed strange. Just like you I had pictures of that watch a long time ago ( Basel 2016) But for a strong reason they kept it under embargo . This site respected the embargo but a lot of members knew it existed. Don't know why it was but I remember my AD had one in stock ... while it was still under embargo.
This watch deserved a lot more attention, it is indeed one of the best releases in years.
They should have done like Tudor did with the Pelagos Left handed. Quite some teasers on Instagram and everybody was very curious to discover this new Tudor.
It gave them a lot of free advertising ... everybody was talking about what Tudor would offer.
The CP2 should have created the same buzz ... but they totally messed up this opportunity.

And that is because of your last sentence ... 'They are not Rolex, AP or VC'. AP and VC are indeed another story, these pieces are much better finished and are in another category
But I see no reason why they could not be in the 'rolex category'. For me Zenith, IWC, Rolex, Panerai are competitors. One is better known than the other but imo they are equally interesting

He has been working with Zenith for a while as head of LVMH watch group...

So basically the ships direction had been set and the only thing he had to do was execute. Information Embargo on historic Tipo 2 was an atom bomb execution blunder. As far as relevant launches go .. you might struggle to find a nicer f - up.
