Trying on the ref. 5328G-001
As I like hand-wound calibers, I was curious to try on this new Calatrava, which features an eight-day power reserve and instantaneous day-date displays jumping at midnight.
The first thing I noticed is how beautiful and eye-catching the textured blue dial with black-gradient rim is.

The design is a clear mix of two other references (which I have featured below):
- The previous 8-Day timepiece released in 2013 as the Gondolo ref. 5200G-001
- And the more recent 2022 Annual Calendar Travel Time, ref. 5326G-001.

Measuring
41 x
10.52 mm, the
white gold case feels almost ok on my 16 cm wrist, but
just a little too large, imo.

The
caseband guilloched with
hobnail pattern is
wonderful. Note that the
lugs are
attached only to the case back, which means that the
hobnail pattern is
uninterrupted all around the caseband.

The
manual winding caliber 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J has a very nice,
traditional architecture.
Here are the two sources of inspiration:

b/ The ref. 5326G-001 with caliber 31-260 PS QA LU FUS 24H 41 x 10.7 mm white gold case

As a conclusion, here are my thoughts:
- The 5328G-001 is a very attractive timepiece, which mixes successfully traditional and modern, classic and almost sporty design elements.
- The day-date-small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock isn't ideal (a bit cluttered), but if this watch fitted into my world, I don't think it would be a deal breaker.
- However, from a strictly personal standpoint, the blue dial and sporty look with lumed Arabic numerals and hands doesn't deeply resonate with me, so I'm not tempted by this reference, even if I find it really attractive.

If you're interested, here's the
post I made last April, when the watch was
