A very quick glance at some new 2024 AP novelties

Mar 07, 2024,18:48 PM

As is the way these past 5+ years, I receive random emails with press releases.  For now, I will post a selection of photos, and we can revisit later (usually by the time I get a post up, 5 members have already shared all the details anyways!!).

John Mayer Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar (at this rate, I am happily going to hold out for the Iron Maiden edition):

43mm Royal Oak Offshore with rubberlcad (!) bezel:

39mm Royal Oak Openworked in white gold:

And a new material here, "Sand Gold", on the 41mm Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon Openworked:

There are some other Code 11.59s, a Royal Oak Chronograph in yellow gold, etc., that I will get to ASAP.

I love JM. And the dial on his AP is amazing.

Just wish it wasn’t a RO…

Ditto.

I like the 'basic' Offshore, but...

...could we please stop with the idiotic celebrity watches? Will anyone one earth except John Mayer's family buy this watch because of his name?

It’ll be impossible to get and will go for multiples of retail on secondary market.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing. It’s just a thing with AP right now.

I honestly doubt it - AP has massively increased prices and the demand is not there anymore.

They will sell, but my guess is that the grey market would be very close to the retail price (200K) - over the past year the majority of the AP collection has reached a similar equilibrium.

May be. I’m not an AP fanboy.

I miss their vintage complicated watches. But, of the new releases I do think the JM is beautiful and the “new”type of rose gold looks interesting.

Completely agree.

John Mayer or not

I may be in minority with my opinion, but I think many AP watches are just an insult for intelligence (and not only them) , A sport watch with 20m water resistance? Doesn't John Mayer take a shower from time to time? A 2024 new release with 40hr power res...

It's also my pet peeve for AP pieces...

Wish they would have a minimum threshold of 30m or 50m, but I still have no issues taking these to the Pool and Ocean...just need to check seals before any holidays. Oddly, I had a PP 5164 that didn't fare as well despite higher WR (120m) that needed an o...

Edible!

So the rumours of sand gold were(was? Sorry) true! Absolutely stunning colour; while I do desire a white, yellow and a pink gold AP, the sand gold is very understated and suave. Rubberclad fume looks phenomenal, just 1mm too large. The John Mayer is lovel...

The time only Offshore is great

As for the sand gold..., classy stuff

Enjoying these new releases - looking forward to the next ones later in the year :)

It's odd but I wasn't jumping up and down with my boutique on any of these models. Perhaps there will be more surprises later? Peter

I am with you Peter, 100%.

I have no specific information, but absolutely expect more releases throughout the year (which AP has also done in recent years).
