I don’t see where this is environmental sustainable and why it should be sponsored by public money. It is just a sportscar for people that would like to appear environmental friendly. This car is just the summum of hypocrisis or non sense.

But even more people would complain if the government picked and chose specific models for eligibility for tax credits right? So it's no easy solution. But I agree... Why should a high performance sedan like this get public money?

Say subsidy only applies for EVs with up to 150 hp and 200 nm of torque? 😂 That should be sufficient for daily commute right?😂

So why should a specific category of goods be subsidized? Well, it's the same with our tax credits and subsidies for EVs, but then, we Europeans are renown for socialism, aren't we? Marcus

And it's just so strange that the government only subsidizes the most expensive and unnecessary "high performance version" and not the normal versions. It's almost counterintuitive.

But the part about appearances, I fully agree.

Joking aside, these are impressive golf carts - they can go really fast. They just don't seem to carry a lot of golf clubs. I really don't like the trunk of the Model 3, it feels small.

Let's say you compared this to a BMW M3 or Mercedes AMG C63, it's definitely going to have less range. But, it will be less expensive to run, just as fast if not slightly faster, and you can charge it at home. And lest we forget, if we drive an AMG C63 fl... 

My car only has around 60 KWH, so my car can only do around 240 KM at high speed. And Autobahn speeds can be 200 kph, so, the consumption will go up even more, thus shortening the autonomy.

Probably 30 liters per 100 km? Would that be reasonable for a 5.4 liter gas guzzling engine? It wouldn't last very long at high speeds of 200+ kph, as the tank is only 80 liters! But at least I'd get 200+ kilometers of very high speed driving and if I nee... 

... at less than 90 km/h. The more impressed I was with a guy and his Model S who took part in a "sports" driving training of our national AA. They have a nice course for that not far from my place, some short straight parts, many curves. In the straight ... 

On the Austrian Autobahn, the Teslas drive that slowly? In Germany, I see them going 200 KPH all the time.

But normally, probably only around 340 km. And if I drive fast, like around 130-140 kph (our speed limits are rarely this fast in USA, sometimes in Texas they allow you to drive around 130 kph and people push it to 140 kph), probably only around 300 km is...

Impressive. But that’s about all there is for me to see here. I’m too much of an ICE traditionalist. Which is probably why I haven’t test driven an EV yet . Add the other drawback like build quality , which I hear frequently, and I just can’t get behind t... 

Then I test drove a Tesla - the acceleration, the response, the low center of gravity - it hooked me.

I am a manual driving 911 guy and disdained Teslas until I rented one for a week while on vacation. I now think they are the best car for commuting or around the town use (not for long distance travel). They are fast, charge up quick to 80% at superchargi... 

I totally agree with you and I thank you for chiming in! And thank you for chiming in with an open mind! A lot of people whom are a little stubbornly puristic but overly critical about electric cars even without having driving them yet. Great for commutin... 

I agree that EVs are not perfected for the track yet but they are great/better at other things. And yes, folks who trash EVs I think haven’t really spent significant time in them. They are also terrific cars but just do it differently than what they’re us... 

The Porsche Taycan drives amazingly. Truly a Porsche from a driving perspective - lack of sound otherwise. But, can I recommend one? So much of car ownership is outside of just how it drives, but the reliability, the insurability, the competence in a spec... 

I like the Taycan but they are behind Tesla in terms of development and design. Even then, the battery replacement costs after long term use is a problem. I wouldn’t replace all the cars in my family with an EV, but having one is a compelling argument.

Especially if you live in a place like California where you have insane fuel costs. We're paying $6.00 USD+ per gallon of premium fuel (all of my cars I've ever owned unfortunately required premium fuel). For our European friends, I'm still under 2 Euros ... 

I can't imagine what my petrol bill in Europe would be with the AMG. 10.000 Euros a year? Yikes! Even in California it was very large.

After reading about the truck, it's a question that must be asked.

As a Tesla driver, I'm impressed with how good this thing is for so little money. As a Mercedes AMG driver, I adore the V8 engine, but whenever I see one of those Tesla milk floats, I'm humbled by the fact that those things are just as fast as a 500 hp Me...
