IMO, your 5970 (with leminia engine) with salmon dial is a grail with or without the new 5270 with salmon dial ! To me, although the new 5270 could lower demand for your piece, your watch will still be highly sought after because it is a totally different watch.
Regarding Patek, I believe that they are still mostly maintaining its traditions and at the same time pushing the envelope (5960 with bracelet & 5524 pilot because they were controversial initially and eventually turned out well received) which should be welcomed. Should Patek have made a steel reference for the 40th anniversary ? Yes, I would have preferred the 1A absolutely ! This issue is that Patek is a business, albeit owned by a family, and is in the horological business to make profits. Would the Platinum 5711-40th hurt the brand in the long term ?? Although I really do not know, I welcome your thoughts and the comments/reasons by others to help me understand more !

....yes, the finishing does seem of a higher standard to the 5170......yes... On 5131.....i can't tell you as mine doesn't arrive until next week!!!
