It’s a bit ironic. If we look back at the “vintage”pieces first exhibited in London (including the 5970G salmon), my guess is that these were conceived as very limited watches, intended as special pieces for some of Patek’s best clients. Some of these remained a little more discreet than others. It has been hard for anyone to get info on these watches from Patek, there was no marketing. You more than anyone else over the years piqued my interest with post after post about the beauty of salmon, the best-ever 5970, etc. It’s a market you have helped create, but now Patek is somehow in the wrong for creating a little less exclusive piece partly in response to that market?
