I agree with you on the 40th Nautilus, Miles, but not on the 5270P.
For me, 5970 and 5270 cannot really be compared. Two totally different watches. The new movement is giving the 5270 a completely new design by bringing more space to the top area of the dial. It’s not as traditional as the 5970 and gets a moderne touch by the „port holes“. Either you like it or not.
At the end of the day I can appreciate both designs. Coincidentally I had the chance to buy a 5270G-001 1.5 years ago and I love it. But if I ever get the chance to get a 5970 I would not hesitate to buy as for me it’s a different approach to the same topic.
This is what I love on Patek. By changing the models regularly they always find a new way to create the things we love in a new way/look.
PS: I would have preferred straight markers instead of the Arab numbers on the 5270P as well.

....yes, the finishing does seem of a higher standard to the 5170......yes... On 5131.....i can't tell you as mine doesn't arrive until next week!!!
