Food & Wine

It's time for lunch - this time with Slovenian cuisine

As much as it's painful to admit, life between GTGs is generally possible, if difficult - and during that time one needs to eat as well wink And as a rare treat for me, some days ago I had the opportunity to have some 'domestic' food - i.e. Slovenian cuisine. A nice riverside restaurant traditionally known for very solid food and excellent service (the former owner used to also run a culinary academy and would keep the best students for himself).

A pretty simple fare but very tasty. Starting with a beef broth with pancake for the little one...

An octopus, rocket and asparagus salad as an adult starter wink

And a wild garlic and prawn soup for the other adult. In some ways similar to the one offered at the Zagreb GTG (here: http://www.watchprosite.com/food-and-wine/a-culinary-review-of-the-zagreb-puristspro-gtg/742.1125901.8584556/0/ for further details of the culinary parts of the event).

For the mains some gnocchi with asparagus, wild garlic (season, it seems), chicken and parmesan...

And a corn battered trout with spinach and potatoes, as a non-meat alternative.

Our daughter's patience ran out before we managed to order dessert, so that was basically it. Nice to be able to enjoy home cuisine once in a while smile

Bon appetit!
