Spotted: Interesting In Imperial Beach, Part 2

We left part 1 with a ratty Ford Bronco. The Fords came hot and heavy for awhile, so here we go onwards:

A gorgeous second-generation, mid-60's Ranchero caught my eye, and camera

Fifty years old and gorgeous!

Appropriate mags, dual exhausts, good paint, all the chrome

As we rounded the corner we saw another - the guy has a Ranchero for sale! $7500 in case you are interested.

This was NOT AS NICE, but still sweetly trimmed

My wife made me get out and take a photo of the interior. Seriously, she did. And made sure we got the telephone number.

But we moved on, and found a Mustang down the block.

It's now Toyota Time again, with a quick run on Land Cruisers:

I think this is a special model - any Land Cruiser Fans out there? Please enlighten us.

He also had a Toyota truck, which was carefully situated, blocking his precious truck from being heisted.

A Dodge Power Wagon got my wife's attention, and as she took the photo a chicken crossed the road and ducked under a fence. No kidding! But no photo. Just a Chicken who Crossed the Road.

I like Power Wagons but I wanted the chicken on the camera!

Moving along, we saw some Jeeps

Lifted Cherokee

Lifted, new suspension goodies, rack, lights, Hi-Lift Jack, fuel can, 4x4 trailer, etc. All the tough-guy stuff any fella would want. I've had this kind of vehicle and was slightly envious ...

until we saw this peeking out from under a tree.

This military Jeep certainly trumps a Cherokee ... (can I say that?)

Anyway, the parade of 4x4s continued with very nice VW Syncro Van. These can bring $50k and up nowadays

A sorry cousin of the Syncro...

Parked quite close to the front door, isn't she?

Well, I must be getting near the end, you think to yourself, but happily that is not the case. Since we have just shown a silver import vehicle, shall we take that direction now?

I saw the camber on the rear wheels of this Infiniti from far away, but only in the photo did I see how closely the two cars matched up:

A strange, low-riderish stance on these cars!

Yes, the rims were scarred and so were the wheelarch edges. I like the audacity though.

I guess he might have "scraped the spoiler" a bit on the second car, or maybe is having a new one made to suit his slammed style.

We went over the north edge of the estuary where there's a park office, but it was closed on Mondays and the path wasn't very crutch-friendly. That's Mexico in the distance.

Here's the view west. On the other side of those apartments is the ocean.

Native foliage when NOT irrigated or swamp:

While looking around we met a nice guy who was driving this Porsche.

This model 944 Turbo is pretty self-disintegrating, according to my roommate who nearly went broke fixing his.
If you look up synonyms for "unreliable" on Google, you get Porsche 944 Turbo. This one looked fairly nice though.

From here to the end it's going to be Chevy Pickups.

This one looks extremely nice. An excellent parking job too, with a good stance and a nice little fence saying "Leave me alone" kind of like a dangerous dog...

This one a bit newer with more patina on it

It doesn't look nearly as mean as the previous truck, but it might be a serious runner. You never know.

This one is more my style. Lowered and flamed. Yes.

I don't think this front wheel is lowered. I think it's broken, or in progress.

If weekend wilderness camping is your thing, this could be your truck

I'd hate to change a flat tire though, with that spare on the roof of the camper.

Maybe just hanging around town and cruising in a truck would be more likely

Here ends the journey through IB this morning. Thanks for joining us!

Cazalea and Mrs C

PS - I grabbed these shots with my phone as this TOO-FAST Fairlane raced by

This was the Ford competition to a Chevy Nova, and a very nice car in its own right.

He roared out of sight as we left Imperial Beach and headed north on the Silver Strand towards Coronado.
