Following an abortive collection attempt in London on 14th September the first wave of watches have hit the Ad's and finding their way to their owners.
As I have been travelling extensively the FedEx box was waiting patiently on.my desk for my return today.
My choice of PC has really hovered around the 5327 blue dial and FPJ QP. I really wanted windows for the various day/month/day functions and this was the only detraction on the 5327. The blue was fantastic and I fell for the hands, Breguet numerals and the thinness of the watch. Just very sophisticated...
When the 5320 was launched my AD phoned me from Baselworld with the 2 watches he knew would meet my needs ...the 5320 and 5650....
I saw the 5320 at two further PP events and in the Geneva Salon and knew that this oddity needed to find a home in my collection....
To me it's an oddity because whilst I recognise it's heritage it makes me stare at the dial for ages working out what doesn't quite fit??
Is it the syringe hands? Would it be better without the subdial? Should a dress watch have lume? Would cream dial work better with rose gold? It's for all these reasons I found it interesting and buy my watches based on contrary opinions ( I have had the 5524 for 2 years now and think the 5711 white dial knocks spots if the grey except the P)

So I think it's a great casual watch for me. I see it with a pair of jeans versus my suit although I am sure it will be just fine. I love the idea of lume and know this will be contrary to many Purists who perhaps believe this should be avoided.

The movement is pretty run of the mill from a finish perspective but it's functional and exact....it avoids the flamboyance of certain German brands but is reliable and I like an automatic watch for multiple complications

The size is interesting at a full 40mm and the concave sapphire gives it a bit more hight to over 11mm. I don't have a problem with either and it fits under my cuffs perfectly

Love the central second and it seems to have an instant change for date and day...I haven't tried the day/date/month instant change but will give feedback at some other stage...
In all its a very cool watch that continues to buck the PP trend. Yes the stamped case made me a bit quesy as watches at this price should be milled or forged. It shouldn't be easy but when you see the crispness of the tiered lugs you will forgive this apparent short cut

I am sure we will get a better more comprehensive write up from owners going forward but this fills a nice niche in my collection and my first perpetual which I vowed never to buy as the premium versus an annual calendar was not justified....it's a slippery slope!!
