F.P. Journe

Ah, sorry for the vague comment

Just that watches with two separate balances, resonance or not, still average the beat rate through some sort of mechanical differential. Even the FPJ resonance when the balances aren't in resonance the watch is still taking the the outputs of each and averaging them. So, I wonder whether the resonance effect has a real world impact on accuracy above and beyond just the mechanical averaging of two balances through a diff. Dufour Duality, MB&F HM9, GF Double Balancier, Czapek, etc all claim increased accuracy from having the average of the two balances. Just worth a discussion. Could also be worth investigating whether two balances really is greater than one given the difficulty of timing a watch with two balances, the increased power need, and the increase in drivetrain loss with the added differential.
