I am happy to understand opposing views on the subject, I think in order to have any hope of understanding it I should understand/ read opposing views on the subject. I didn't realise until posting there were varying opinions on the 'realness' of resonance. Grateful for the links, I probably need to re-read some of it as I'm fairly simple minded and not from a mechanical or engineering background.

The escapements are not connected in the joure (as they are in other examples you mentioned). The journe has two separate second hands with nothing but the vibrations of the main plate connecting them. There is no "averaging" happening with the journe. Se...
