I hear you brother

It’s a strange thing for me. I got irritated a bit when I used to hear AP collectors and such bullying GP guys that posted pics.

So I stepped in and didn’t blast them but just educated them on a few things about GP. I was pleasantly surprised to see the majority of the AP guys nod and say ok. Fair enough. They have been decent ever since. I even post GP pics in the VC and AP groups and show them some parallels. They all have been very receptive. Bravo to them.

We now have 2,300 in the GP Fanclub FB group I started. I look at it as a bit of an academy for sharing of knowledge.

So the spread of knowledge can enable GP folks to look beyond the marketing and drill down to some of the facts.

With it can come more recognition of a certain era or specific watches.

In reality, there are so many beautiful neo vintage GPs available at such low prices that it’s almost insulting to the Macaluso clan that made them. Often I see posts of which dial color is coming out next or why doesn’t GP have a 40 mm laureato. Etc etc. I think this is fine, but I also think it would good if there was more depth of understanding the brand and past achievements beyond current production dial color changes.

If my posts help some others understand the heritage and provenance of certain other pieces just that little bite more, I will be happy.
