Girard Perregaux

Thanks Salman

I’ve spoken with GP management on this before. I believe that unless the past iconic pieces like the laureato 8010 and 8017 and 81000 are shown the respect they deserve, it will be tough for collectors to respect the current production pieces.

It’s all related to each other.

So it’s in the interest of GP current management to see that the grandfathers of the current production pieces gain the respect. And I see no reason on earth why they shouldn’t garner that respect. They are rare, iconic, beautiful and well made. I don’t see why the nautilus 3700 should be any more sought after than the laureato 8010. Many GP collectors have become spoilt in expecting it all to be 30% of the MSRP price. In fact, it’s the AP collectors and such that are more than willing to pay more for the value of the GP
Neo-vintage pieces. They recognise the quality and are used to paying so much more for it.

Also, in reality, it is probably the weak secondary market prices of the current production pieces that stifles the rare birds of the past.

All this will need to change if GP wants to lose the “under appreciated” left-handed accolade often attributed to it.
