Girard Perregaux

Incomplete GP quartz history

First generation were the cal. 3xx such as the 310 and 350

Second generation were the cal. 7xx, one of which powered the ref 4266. Reliable enough for some to have survived to the present day.

This 7xx generation culminated in the 1985 perpetual calendar movement. Cased in both Laureato and traditional cases.

Then there is a gap in knowledge. We have photos of a ‘GP 90’ quartz line but not what was inside. Could be ETA quartz for all we know.

Lastly the present generation 13100 two hander with date appears in the early noughts in the Richeville ref 2655. There is also a mysterious Richeville 2657 with three hands.

In 2010, the 80188 with the cal. 13500, and consecutive ref number 80189 is the 34 mm Laureato with 13100 inside.

Lurking in the background is GP’s movement supply. The AP cal 2712, their main quartz movement from 2000s to present, is a slightly modified 13100.

I will reserve the precise caliber numbers for a full post.
