However, I arrive in Vienna a few days earlier and will be renting a car to go to Linz for business.
Thereafter, the prospect of driving on gorgeous long European roads (a rare luxury where I come from here in Singapore) is too inviting to ignore.
Moreover, I'll be heading to Zurich after a couple of days before I head home.
Hopefully, the hotel I'm staying at will be able to accommodate parking (at a reasonable rate).
Thanks again for your advice, and will take heed of the limitations of driving a car.

Hi Ed, You already have your room confirmed? If not, I doubt you would now find a hotel in Basel (they were all sold out months ago) so you will more than likely be in one of the outlying towns unless you are very lucky. Andrew

I have stayed near there before and it is not too far away. Not as convenient as Zurich (in terms of lots of trains) but certainly closer by car.
