Hehe...you caught me inadvertently equating Jaquet Droz and Raul Pages
Raul Pages appears to be a talented guy, but of course he is not in the league of the long-gone Jaquet Droz.
I think Raul Pages piece is very strikingly modern and extremely different from the jewel-encrusted turtle automatons of the past. I don't think he advanced the craft in terms of know-how, again I emphasize that I'm no expert. But he's slightly changed the perception 5 years ago that a turtle automaton is some old world bejeweled trinket.
What would be a fine gentlemanly gesture, now that I'm thinking about it, is Max Busser uses his MADGallery to showcase the Raul Pages automaton. Maybe he did it 5 years ago already? I don't know. But do it again now. Do it while MB&F is selling their turtle series. Too much to ask? :-D
