You're right about the RL Sports Classic
You don't even have to be a sharp-eyed Purist: looking at the back of the Sports Classic and seeing the IWC caliber 98xxx is a shocker. Seeing "Ralph Lauren" on the top plate made me rub my eyes and look again. Can't say that I'd ever choose the RL model over a corresponding IWC, but there's no denying the committment to first-class movements. If this RL project somehow ends up being short-lived, I imagine some of these models would end up being quite the collector's items in a few decades.

the watches are very nice, although i wouldnt personally buy one. One thing that I think could be improved are the sports watches. the movement could have been 1000 times nicer. if i were designing it id replace that ugly oscillating weight with an AP roy...

but i would imagine since RL are spending massive amounts of money on these watches (promoting and developing) that they are trying to secure a place in the watch market, even though it may be small when compared to the likes of Piaget or even Gucci watch...
