Another classic - IWC Reference 5251
By: RDSChicago : December 20th, 2025-17:07
The 18k Portofino Moonphase. 46mm case, around 8mm thick, an enamel dial and beautiful moon! What is there not to love? ...

Agreed!

I recall a revival looking something like this and housing a hand-wound movement with an extra-long index and engraved bridges, but I may be conflating a few references. Anybody remember?

You might be referring to the Reference 5448
By: RDSChicago : December 20th, 2025-17:32
It too was 46mm, but thicker (11mm) than the 5251. Nico posted about this reference several years ago. www.watchprosite.com

So much charm, this one!

And the layout of the moon subdial at 3 o’clock is so rare.

What is there not to love? For me I don't love the 46mm. I always wished the Portofino models were downzsized to at least 42mm.

Everything else about them I do love.

It wears much smaller than 46mm
By: RDSChicago : December 20th, 2025-18:51
Given its 8mm thickness (or should I say thinness), it actually fits very well and comfortably on my average size 17mm wrist.

such elegant and slender hands, still too big for me but beautiful
By: xto : December 20th, 2025-22:59
I have the thickness at 95mm. Did you measure yours? If it is really 8 I want to update my data. Thx

I’ve always been a big fan of this one.

Love this layout, but 42mm instead of 46mm would be my preference. There’s one for sale in the market now, but no original warranty card, box, etc.

Love This Piece!
By: 911 EURO : December 20th, 2025-23:48
It could be the dial of a 19th C. Regulator Clock. Thanks for sharing.
