Bill Sohne's question resulted me in registering myself with Watchprosite. Well i am in my mid 30s and about 9 years ago i received my grandpa's Omega Geneve, i believe it is now 30 years old. took it to Swatch Group for service and replacement of dial and hands and the plexiglas. later found out that my grandpa was collecting Omega watches in his younger days. he had two more Constellations which he gave to my elder sibling. Being and a businessman himself, he could not run away from Rados. His later purchase was a Rolex Datejust which my dad now wears. I guess he knew what he wanted going for the 2 biggest watch brand contenders, Omega vs. Rolex. When i caught the watch back 8 years ago, i too, bought 2 more Omegas, both Speedmasters, the triple date and the 3573.50. I later realized my grandpa had influenced me to went straight for Omegas, when i started watch collecting. prior to that, he had bought me a Breitling. I went on to purchase an ORIS, IWC, and Rolex. I like the Omega brand simply because it is not pretentious. It does not produce oversized watches and tell you that it is the trend now. It does not boast 36 complications in its watches and tell you this is practical. It does not offer you watches which are covered with diamonds until u cannot even tell the time. it does not tell you to keep your watches and safeguard them for generations to come. it does not tell you its cases are made of Titanic's steel, it does not produce watches which are thrown from the Eiffel Tower and can still survive, what you get from Omega are watches with Chronographs, day/date/month, annual calendar, divers, well for those with more financial resources..u can go for the Central Tourbillon..its gives you reliability, honest craftsmanship, high quality hairsprings, nicely polished parts, it gives you lots of history, track record, and good business judgement from the late Nicholas G Hayek.. he is one man in the industry whom i admired.. Omega is a true and honest manufacture..for anyone who wish to buy their next watch, i urged u to look into the Omega catalogue...It is a brand to be reckoned with...

I'd say, even if I don't consider myself anything else than an admirer of the brand, that I like the brand for its important historical background in different backgrounds such as: Precision : The Chronometric watches, and the Connies are a nice ambassado...

. . . they're the established manufacturer that caters to the average person. Their watches were, for most of their history, produced in-house, and they're moving back towards that ideal, so on that specific level, I would accord Omega much the same respe...
