A Journey Through Time
There are occasions when I look at watches by other makers and I see a couple I like and many I do not. With the older Omegas I see a a great many that I like and very few that I do not (OK, the Proplofs, most with a metal bracelet - but not the snake bracelets, and anything huge I don't care for).
I enjoy the network of Omega collector who are willing to share their knowledge and enjoy a good find.
When I look at a watch I always ask the question "Would I wear this"? For most brands this is a "no" answer. For most Omegas its a "yes".

I'd say, even if I don't consider myself anything else than an admirer of the brand, that I like the brand for its important historical background in different backgrounds such as: Precision : The Chronometric watches, and the Connies are a nice ambassado...

. . . they're the established manufacturer that caters to the average person. Their watches were, for most of their history, produced in-house, and they're moving back towards that ideal, so on that specific level, I would accord Omega much the same respe...

Although Omega is not alone in this (I like the year and quarters engraved on Rolex as well), I like the fact the fact that movement serial numbers allow one to fairly accurately date a particular vintage watch. Adds to the fun of collecting. Andrew
