Patek Philippe

Today, I'd like to draw some attention to this reference, which is a sort of cousin of the 5070, the case and dial design having many similarities. The Minute Repeater has cathedral gongs. Yellow gold variants seem to have been introduced in 2002, rose go...

Gorgeous reference indeed. Had I the money I wouldn't hesitate to acquire one (if I could fin one of course). Platinum/blue dial is fantastic, but I my heart goes to the yellow and rose gold/silver dial versions.

I find the 5079, which has small seconds only (no pc) to be aesthetically less attractive. ...  

With Roman numerals, I think the platinum 5078P-001 looks absolutely great. And what a beautiful case! ...

but I would of course have to see both in real life. I think I prefer the 5070 case style on the 5070 and the 5074. But none of this is "real", as I'm judging only from photos. Thanks for sharing your preference.

It's often said that Patek is unrivalled when it comes to MR. I personally can't tell. The only MR I've heard are two from VC (a 30010 & a 30020) and two Full Strikes - and I found these two Chopard fantastic and much better sounding than the VCs.

These are why Patek remains top of the pack.

I would prefer a manual wind though. It would be a pleasure to wind every day for the rest of my life 😁

Self-winding may have been chosen as a way to keep the PC to date on a winder (just my guess)...

I don’t understand why this reference isn’t mentioned more often. I consume a ton of watch content and it’s not one I see. It’s truly special. Each of these is my favorite 😎.

I think it pulls off the case design better than the 5070 😬 the RG with cream dial is a standout also.

And how lovely with the blue dial especially. A proof that in the category of grand complications Patek is the leader.

VC and other brands have made and make comparably impressive pieces too, but much more occasionally. Hope I’m not wrong though, just my impression.

As mentioned in your other post on 5070, I love the blue dial the most and this preference extends to the MRs. Keep up your great work !

While I never expect to own a PCC MR, much as love the 5074 I like the 5016 even more. Retrograde, has a second hand and an even more appealing and better sized (for me) classic style case.

What a watch, and with a Tourbillon on top of all the rest. But aesthetically, at least on photos, I still find the 5074 very attractive. Matter of personal taste of course. Thanks for looking and for the kind words. ...
