Patek Philippe

First, thank you for your participation Mj23!

PP finishing does not get better as prices go up, to say that is oversimplifying and taking out of context. Here on WPS, we have a higher standard. Shooting from the hip with assumptions and presumptions based on gut feeling and not on fact is very common on other discussion sites, but here we are a little more considered. That being said, perhaps your thoughts on whether materials matter or not is based off of your knowledge as a consumer and not so much your knowledge of actually working with the materials. I love your participation Mj23, don't get me wrong, but I think you're operating a lot off hearsay, which over the years of hearing over and over again, we assume it's factual, and not actual factual knowledge from a first-hand reputable source. That being said. There is A SUBSTANTIAL difference in anglage between brass and German Silver. I can tell you from personal experience using multiple ways to make a polished anglage on both surfaces (progressively finer metal files and then using diamond paper files, diamond paste on a wood stick, and using the spinning dentist too. I can personally say from my person hands on experience, I was MUCH HAPPIER with the German Silver result, which took much less time and got a much better sheen (with fewer tooling) than I was with the result on brass.
