Patek Philippe

Great points raised and loved the discussion!

I'm not a Patek expert but just chiming in on my two cents worth.

The 5970 is beast in its own way. But just as you have made comparisons, some would go even further to compare them with the 3970. Are they better? Personally I feel each of these aforementioned pateks r a class in its own. That said, I thought the 3970 n 5970 are closer in comparisons. To me they are a reflection of an excellent Era with their lemania movement. There is absolutely nothing wrong, totally fantastic movement, but completely spoilt by the whole inhouse movement macro climate.

For me, the 5270 is another class in its own to be evaluated on different terms. I am not privy of the movement intricacies. But I thought its quite cool, because it's deliberately and purposefully designed to be a perpetual calendar chronograph. You can see this from the chronograph counters which are slightly off the middle. Nice details, rather enjoyable. I'm not saying it's groundbreaking but it's something they did with the whole watch as a whole. How cool is that coming from patek. A minor point I thought it's a bit counter intuitive is that the leap year indicator. Just a minor thing really.

I thought actually patek has been quite impressive recently. Feels to me they r still steering the ship very differently from the crowd, which is fantastic. To me they r still a class in its own.
