The 5196g is the Patek I like. Discreet elegance that you only glimpse under the sleeve. A path that modern Patek has largely lost. I don't like the 6119.
The mouvement should be bigger, for sure, but this is not a big deal. The only drawback for me is that I find the watch overall a bit too greyish. But nevertheless, a very beautifull watch

I'm an absolutely fan of the 5227g. One could argue about the date, it's not a problem for me. One of most beautiful watches ever, for me.

Patek should always have an xx96 in its lineup. I look forward to what Patek releases next in the lineup, likely in the same form as the 6196P but in G, R and Y. Those will be nice. As to the 5196, I like it but I think the movement size is a mere comprom...

As you are one of our best dressed members, this comes at no surprise! And that's not to say I dislike the 5196, I actually like the 5196 quite a bit. Just, I like that shimmer of the 82172 more!

There are so many reasons I'd think I ought to prefer the 5196:
Time only, handwind, the straight line in design history all the way back to the 1930's. All 'purists' reasons! But this watch, to me, is better.
For me there is no "better"
but only a "different". Which is good, as there is the right Calatrava for almost everybody. The Calatrava that makes me smile the most is the right one for me 😀 And that's currently the 5127G. No idea if this last forever 🤷♂️
