I'd really like to love the 5196, as it has a lot going for it, but unfortunately, its rather long and straight lugs don't suit smaller wrists like mine (as you can see in the photo below, where I'm wearing the 5196P).
Furthermore, I personally find that due to the small caliber 215PS housed in the 37mm case, the small seconds subdial is placed a little too high on the dial. It's not a big deal, really, but it's not ideal for me either.
That said, I really like this minimalist G variant and prefer it to the more elaborate P variant with Breguet numerals.
However, among modern Calatravas without a date equipped with the same caliber 215PS, I think I prefer the 33mm reference 3718A, but I've never seen one in person. See photo below.
