It is not a matter of Nationality ( I hate generalizations on Nationality, by the way ).
It has to do with several factors:
1/ Size: Many delicious vintage Pateks are " small ", as for example, the maginficient Ref 96 with its 31 mm case.
2/ Availability: Finding one in good condition is not that easy. A 130 is a sublime Chrono.
3/ Knowledge: It is not possible to hunt what you ignore.
4/ Price: The most expensive Patek is a vintage, AFAIK, a World Time Ref 1415 in platinum. But a nice 130 is not " given ", too, and going for something less epxensive, like a 5170, is for many, a temptation.

Bruno...i disagree with your answer to some extent...
....its simply wrong to state that a certain size watch is "the perfect size". It may be the perfect size for you, but that will differ from one person to the next. The perfect size watch for me is probably 37-38mm...and depending on the style of the case...

I will add that it is certainly the case that to many, blingin'it is an important part of a watch....its important to "be seen" with an expensive watch. To me, that is irrelevant.
