What an extraordinary watch and what a big mistake to have the portrait on the dial and to have it be limited edition of 30 pieces. Here’s what makes sense to me …
1) Keep the watch exactly as is including the portrait in a limited edition of 3 pieces. One hour Philippe, one for Thierry and one for Museum. This would in no way diminish the loving tribute from Thierry to his Dad. In fact it would make it more special.
2) Why limit this extraordinairy movement to 30 pieces? Don’t limit it. Instead have all the other pieces be in blue Grand Feu enamel (a la 5370 P) with Breguet numerals all around and not have the portrait. Let the the most devoted Patek clientele (there are a lot more than 30) be able to own and enjoy this super complicated tribute and practical complication. After all the work put in to bring this complication to reality it should not be consigned to a premature termination. Not limiting this complication to 30 pieces, would IMHO only enhance the loving and well deserved tribute to the genius and life of Philippe Stern.

The good thing is that it's way out of my budget & even if it wasn't it's so unobtainable to be completely moot. I'll just enjoy the fact that they made it. Cheers JML

This is something I could see as a memorial piece to commemorate someone who passed away. Doing it with the face of someone who's still living is just off in my opinion.

...sell the 30 with the profile at $1M apiece. Then do a 'regular' version at a mere $750k. Win-win : )
Glad you say this dear Nicolas as that was my thought when I viewed the release information earlier. As I´m not a frequent of this PP forum I was hesitant to write my own thoughts on this dial here.
It is a marvelous timepiece both visualy and its mechanic characteristics is fantastic. A dial in black mail with those Breguet numerals is superb... but the face... mmm. May be they could do it inside the caseback with that nice inscription. Interesting ...

...does the movement look a bit small for the case? Maybe they had to go with 41mm to keep the proportions correct (it looks a bit thick).

Interesting that they made the ONLYWATCH to make 30 pieces. Incredible movement, finishing, and story. But I think it's odd, if true, that they made the ONLYWATCH into a 30 piece edition. Have other companies followed suit? Peter
To me it looks more like Mr Stern got his persanel Patek and the other 29 pay for it.
However, those 29 get a "gift", too.

Questionable dial, only 30 pieces all sold in the first day (hours), movement never to be repeated, watch very unlikely auctioned in the next years... A missed opportunity for PP and Mr. Thierry Stern IMHO. Such a shame that this great movement will never...
