Why I may find Lemania < new CH29-535:

I quite agree with your feeling Vandyke about the 5970 and the 5070.

Let's give time to the 5270 but especially the 5170 to see if it will be a great Patek. I'm sure the 5170G will be so. Concerning the 5270, it is harder to forcast...

Yet, the 5970R I saw is so beautiful and classic, not the modern lack of warmth we can sometime feel in modern watches. However, it is also difficult to compare a rose gold vs a white metal watch.

As for the movement, I've been holding the 5070, 5970 and the new generations lately (but not together at the same time) and I must say I seem to think the Lemania < CH29-535.

The Lemania has 2 or 3 angles rentrants which are a cherry on the cake but are also very small to see in the metal (by the way the Datograph's bridge's don't seem to have any angles rentrants either).

Furthermore, to me, it seems that the finish of the bridge's cotes de Geneve is similar on both movement and the beveling of the levers and cams seem better on the new movement (hard to assess though but that was my overall observation).

It seemed to me the new movement was bigger and thus, the show was more appealing (2mm bigger).

Also, the new levers functionning with the column wheel look better to me.

Finally, on a striclty technical point, Patek has improved significantly the movement. It is more accurate (even if it remains hard to feel, yet it is a nice effort) for the time keeping but also the chrono's functions (jumping minute and chrono ignition, stop and frictions behaviour).

And the pushers are more appealing and finished to offer less friction when activated.

So, these are my last observations even if I don't make them an absolutlete certainty (I don't have a microscope and I think this is not how one should observe a watch).

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts, I'll have to take time on these beauties.
