I think I did pretty well...
Had been in the hunt for my first sub for a few weeks, and finally picked one up today. I wanted to go old school but not to old for my 1st, as I plan to put it in my rotation and wanted a sapphire crystal.
So without further ado my new to me, unpolished with a pretty nice patina ref 16800 (I'm only the 2nd owner, and the first kept this beauty pristine )

These transitional Rolexes deserve interest. They are the best of both worlds.
A vintage you can use as a modern, if you take care of it, and regularly check its water resistance. Yours has a warm patina which is very nice. Best, Nicolas

Transitional, what exactly do you mean? I've seen it used many times referring to dials? I'm new to the world of older and vintage rolex and finding out the more I know, the less I know! How many years old does a Rolex, or any watch for that matter have t...
I will say....................
Trasitional is the matte dial with painted index's. Vintage Rolex have plastic crystal IMHO and the transitional sapphire is so close to vintage as you can get. In a few years they will be vingate too.
I would actually call the 168000 the true Transitional Sub not...
The 16800 but to each his own. Very nice Sub and big congrats! I also love the warm Patina as it sets watch apart.
