From the exciting 1990s - the rebirth of high grade mechanical watchmaking in Japan aka Seiko SUS SCFF003 β±οΈπ¦Ύπ―π΅
Seiko was seriously considering what the future would bring in the 1900s - especially in terms of how to get young people to maintain an interest in mechanical watches.
While the overall story of the SUS line is widely known, the executive summary goes through a combination of finding a youth suitable design from the past catalogs and pairing it with a top notch movement from Grand Seiko from the 1970s - the 4S15. And it is a rare tool / youth focused watch with gold chatons π
Overall one can call the effort a success in hindsight even if the SUS line itself petered out eventually.
Here a fresh shot of the silver dial version (the more commonly seen one is black). Given that we are talking the pre-mobile phone era the not so nice date is more excusable.
