I don't really disagree with you!
I just don't like the tendency to mix politics / polices and science. I don't think many in the science community think that electric vehicles are great for environment, especially considering the manufacturing impact.
Science is not always right, but tends to correct and improve over time. Climate modeling 10-15 years ago was a joke simply because we were lacking computing power. Now models are much more likely to produce something meaningful. The outcome is still probabilistic, there is no certainty one way or another. But still incredibly valuable.
Adding economics and politics on top, this is where the real problems start ...

Yeah, the way to go is to reduce production activities and consumption..
But with the world population continue increasing, lets see if technology would be able to support increased activities and consumption with lower carbon emissions.
What I'd like to see is for information distribution systems to stop being more and more like Tass. "That" is the best thing that could happen for the planet and the people on it.
Less information control and manipulation would lead to better decisions on everything.
