Your opinion really puzzles me..
regarding how not many in science think that EVs are good for the environment. I'm curious what led you to that impression? I work in academia (specifically in energy-related materials science research), and pretty much all my colleagues and the policy people from DOE agree that EVs are better than ICE for the environment, even with manufacturing costs included.

Yeah, the way to go is to reduce production activities and consumption..
But with the world population continue increasing, lets see if technology would be able to support increased activities and consumption with lower carbon emissions.
What I'd like to see is for information distribution systems to stop being more and more like Tass. "That" is the best thing that could happen for the planet and the people on it.
Less information control and manipulation would lead to better decisions on everything.
