Vacheron Constantin

Right before 1938?

Hi,

We can quite probably say that at the time of the presence of Georges-Auguste Leschot at Vacheron & Constantin (1839-1882) Vacheron & Constantin made some fully in-house calibres (but who can say if that was all of their production).

Then it's far less clear and in the Chronos dedicated to Vacheron Constantin you can read page 45: "Un accord intervint en septembre 1938.....Jaeger-LeCoultre continuerait a produire des ébauches pour Vacheron & Constantin a la vallée de Joux alors que l'assemblage des mouvements serait toujours effectue sur les rives du Rhône a Genève." Meaning "An agreement took place in Septembre 1938.....Jaeger-LeCoultre would keep producing blank calibres for Vacheron & Constantin at the vallee de Joux while the assembling of calibres would still be done of the Rhône river at Geneva."

The reference book Secrets of Vacheron Constantin has correspondant elements.

Don't take me wrong. VC has produced calibres in the 19th century and since 2000. In between not really for what I've read and understood so far.

VC is a major player of high horology, historically, but not for calibre making IMO.
